What woul Welcome to iboats. Usually this is due to either the idle being set too low or crud in the carbs. The idle needs to be set on the water as it needs backpressure to run correctly.
If it idles fine then disassemble and clean the carbs good. I did a total rebuild and clean on the carbs and it still stalls when I first put it in gear and try to accelerate unless I hit the choke a little. First I turned up the idle to around 1000.
When I go to put it in gear it drops to around 750. Engine starts great but when I put it Mercrusier V6 Alpha 1 into gear the engine shuts off. Also when I activate the cutout switch from within the engine compartment the engine does same.

However after a few minutes it stalls when I give it some gas. That switch momentarily kills the ignition when it is working correctly so you can get the boats gears to disengage. When it is sticking and killing the motor going in to gear It means the lower shift cable The cable that goes to the transom assy is corroded and tight.

Hi I have a 2004 Mercury 115hp 4-stroke EFI outboard when i rev the engine on neutral sounds fine and will rev up till rev limiter but in gear or under load it will start bogging past 3500 rpm and. A clogged filter would not make the engine stall as soon as popping into gear. It would cause the engine to starve for fuel if you accelerated the engine but not cause it to stall when shifting at idle speeds.

The problem with adjusting the star wheel is that is how you rig the throttle cable for idle and wide open throttleif you adjust it too faryou can actually put unneeded stress on the throttle shafts at wide open. 135 Mariner stalls on acceleration. If it does stall it will start back up ok and idle good. If your outboard stalls whenever you drop it into idle the problem usually lies with the carburetor. It might be something as simple as the carburetor idling screw needing a small adjustment so check that first and adjust it if needed.
