Switch 3 plug wire with another one and see if the 3 carbons up then. Could leak out a full bulb of gas and maybe more.
Could leak out a full bulb of gas and maybe more.
Outboard motor loses power under load. Went out Sunday and didnt even make it out of the harbour. Engine started fine revs fine in neutral but once over 3000 revs in gear loses power under load. Has new plugs fuel lines all seem ok just seems it wants to kick on but splutters and drops back.
Didnt stall at all just lack of power. Outboard bogging down under load Thanks for all of the info here is what i am going to do and i will report back whenever i can get the time to take her to the lake. Drain fuel tank replace fuel lines new fuel filter new plugs check compression and check spark plug wires.
Also replace with fresh fuel and a good shock treatment of sea foam. No Power under Load. I have a 2002 F115 4Stroke that loses power when I try to accelerate.
I can move under power at 5 to maybe 10mph at 2000 rpms but when I try to accelerate it bogs down and the average top rpms is 3000 and I am still going 10mph. I have taken motor out of gear and am able to get 4000-5000 rpms. Well it worked sorta for a short amount of time I put it in the water got the boat to plane off slowly so the rpms are still not great maybee 300 - 3500 ran up and down the river 2 times and started loosing power to a point that it would only go to about 1500 rpm again.
It also started smoking a little at that point I am lost we set the timing at 8 deg BTDC the person working on the motor with me thought. Finally Problem Solved - No Power Under Load - Johnson 70hp. Well Id just like to say that I finally solved the problem with my 1978 Johnson 70hp with no power under load.
I was about to purchase a Suzuki DT55 outboard along with trading my 70hp when the seller asked if I had the title to my outboard. New Suzuki 150 losing power and running rough under load. Hey everyone Im new to Suzukis and this forum.
I have a new Suzuki 150 with 21 hrs on it. It has run fine since new. I did the 20 hr service on it last weekend and was able to get it on the water today.
Idled out from the ramp and brought it up on plane and. That could sure explain the reason for power loss at full throttle as it would be pulling in a lot of air. This may also be draining out fuel when motor is not running.
Could leak out a full bulb of gas and maybe more. If this connection is not good would for sure check all connections to be safe. I have a 1989 Capri Bayliner with a 1989 Force 125.
The motor starts in about 12 a turn it runs perfectly at idle. It will shift into gear but bogs down when it is under a load. It will not get past 2000 rpms.
Here are the things ive done so far. Cleaned carbs with cleaner and air pressure. Made sure needle was falling when float comes down 2.
Id punch it all the way to the floor but the outer sheath had moved so the cable wasnt pulling the linkage on the motor all the way. But you said 3 was not burning. Sometimes you get spark but not under a load.
Switch 3 plug wire with another one and see if the 3 carbons up then. If it does then it would be the plug wire. Ive been having problems out of my 1995 Mercury outboard accelerating under load.
Idle is fine but when I rapidly increase the throttle the motor has no power and dies down. I also noticed the tachometer bouncing on me a few times. Before I used the boat last week the cranking battery was dead.
There are a few possible causes to missing power from an engine and here are a few things to ponder. Your engine may have old gas in the tank. Fuel in the last couple of years now has up to 10 ethanol.
This ethanol attracts moisture water and debris which reduces fuel quality and may cause the engine to run rough or not at all. One its starving for fuel. These pumps use the fuel to lubricate themselves and a blocked filter at the pump or your regular fuel filter will cause this to happen.
Makes the same or worse sound as when you first turn the key on and the pumps primes itself. Two they are in the early stages of failing. RPMs up in neutral but power drops under load.
Service done in fall but no fuel filter. New plugs a week ago but no difference in power. Hi I have a 2004 Mercury 115hp 4-stroke EFI outboard when i rev the engine on neutral sounds fine and will rev up till rev limiter but in gear or under load.
Like the title says 1999 50 HP Merc 2-stroke losing power at wide open throttle. Things that have been suggested from bar stool Merc techs. Fuel filter fuel pump fuel lineprimer ball.
Primer ball in the fuel line seems to be holding firm. First time I pumped the ball this weekend it didnt release and stayed compressed. Cranks up no problem.
Idles on trailer and in water no problem. Can put it in gear and idle around in marina no problem. When I get out of no wake zone and give it some throttle as soon as it gets under load it wants to bog down and try to shut off.
If its going to be sitting up for more than 3 or 4 months then add a fuel stabilizer. The other way to prevent this issue is to clean and change your spark plugs and fuel filter regularly. Spark plugs are a pretty simple change and should be done based off of motor usage or a specific period of time depending on which one comes first.
While running around fishing it generally ran well but would sometimes have power loss issues to get going but then take off and run normal. I found that adjusting the trim of the motor may help it run normal but this could have been coincidental as well. 15hp strange loss of power.
Hi All I have a 15hp 15fhm 2 stroke and here is the issue. Engine will start up fine 1st pull. Engine will idle fine.
Go into gear and idle fine. In idle will rev up fine. However under load wont go past half power.
At points with WOT it seems to try. Can I start by getting the model number on the outboard. 2014 Yamaha fuel injected 40hp with 35 hours.
Smooth idle excellent acceleration in neutral no power issue in reverse wont go above 2800 rpm in drive. Removed in line fuel filter before primer installed new impeller low pressure from pee hole. Good morning my name is Nevada.
The problem would be worse with the tank below the powerhead J24 cockpit and with the engine under load. Try new fuel line end fittings and assure that all hose clamps are sealed and snug. As an alternative raise the gas tank to powerhead height and see if the problem goes away.
Why does my outboard stall. Your outboard may be stalling running out of fuel due to three issues. Either the lift pump has failed the boat is out of fuel or there is an air leak or blockage somewhere in the fuel lines running fuel from the tank to the engine.
There are several methods to troubleshooting a stalling outboard engine. Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke I have a manual tiller 40hp EX40 2 stroke outboard motor engine having issue with engine cannot rev up. The engine starts up perfect but when reving.
225 horsepower Yamaha ox66 My 225 horsepower Yamaha ox66 starts up just fine but smokes more than usual at. Any idea why my 2007 F150 loses power at higher power settings. It happens with the engine warm or cool.
Everything seems to run fine at lower power settings even for extended periods. Once I go above about 3200 RPM power drops out within anywhere between 10 seconds and a.
