Hello I have a 1994 Honda 8 hp 4 stroke.
Outboard motor bogging down at full throttle. Do I recommend doing this. But it is handy to know as a last resort if youre stuck out on the water. I recommend cleaning your carby the old fashioned.

The water pump works fine and the water is luke warm. The repair manual doesnt help either. Bogs down at full throttle.
Hi I have a 1971 98 hp mercury the problem is it will run fine up to about half throttle anything more and it kind of just bogs down doesnt lose speed but wont go faster no matter how much more throttle. This time Id say I was on full throttle 5-10 seconds while stationary. A couple of days later I fired it up but it ran horribly. I managed to get it moving but it hit 10-12 MPH on mostly flat land where 27 MPH was common.
Answer 1 of 6. There really isnt enough information to answer this question. Is it a fuel injected or carbureted.
Could be to rich of a fuel mixture or bad float in a carbureted engine or high end needle needs adjustment. Maybe even fuel pump cant. Outboard Marine Motor bogs down when giving it throttle.
Jump to Latest Follow 1 - 9 of 9 Posts. It too would bog down when I gave it gas. If I let off the throttle it would come back to life and then run fine if I accelerated gradually.
After reading this thread I pulled the plugs last night and both were oily and wet. Anyway I had the motor wide open to see how she was running and we were just going to cruse around for a bit when all of the sudden we slowed right down to almost trolling speed. This all happened while I had the throttle all the way down.

The boats motor will still operate and function as it should but the lack of a connection between the propshaft and propeller blades drastically reduces the boats top speed. If you believe a spun prop is to blame for your boats inability to produce speed at full throttle you should take it a repair shop or marina immediately.
Suzuki DF30A bogging down. Have a DF30A about 2 years old with about 200 hours on it. Was going about 34 throttle planed out for about 5 minutes then came to a stop and motor shut off.

I have a 1982 mercury 80 hp outboard motor. Mine starts no problem but when going full throttle it will die sometimes or takes forever to get going but it never gets top speed. Im missing a third of the speed.

I have a 50 yamaha with 150 hrs on it. When I put it I the water and put it in gear I cant get over 1400 rpms. Now if I just use the cold start lever it revs right up.
