Hello I have a 1994 Honda 8 hp 4 stroke.
Outboard motor bogging down at full throttle. Do I recommend doing this. But it is handy to know as a last resort if youre stuck out on the water. I recommend cleaning your carby the old fashioned.

The water pump works fine and the water is luke warm. The repair manual doesnt help either. Bogs down at full throttle.
Hi I have a 1971 98 hp mercury the problem is it will run fine up to about half throttle anything more and it kind of just bogs down doesnt lose speed but wont go faster no matter how much more throttle. This time Id say I was on full throttle 5-10 seconds while stationary. A couple of days later I fired it up but it ran horribly. I managed to get it moving but it hit 10-12 MPH on mostly flat land where 27 MPH was common.
Answer 1 of 6. There really isnt enough information to answer this question. Is it a fuel injected or carbureted.
Could be to rich of a fuel mixture or bad float in a carbureted engine or high end needle needs adjustment. Maybe even fuel pump cant. Outboard Marine Motor bogs down when giving it throttle.

After reading this thread I pulled the plugs last night and both were oily and wet. Anyway I had the motor wide open to see how she was running and we were just going to cruse around for a bit when all of the sudden we slowed right down to almost trolling speed. The boats motor will still operate and function as it should but the lack of a connection between the propshaft and propeller blades drastically reduces the boats top speed.
