Difference between 12v and 24v trolling motor. Another major difference is that a 24v trolling motor has more output in terms of power than a 12v trolling motor. By the time I notice power lose one fresh batt Im close to packing it in for the day I dont run it all the time more big motor to the spot and then troller around to refine. I also tend to drift patterns more on the river than troll. The run time is sooooo much longer.

A 24v system is about 25 more efficient than a 12 volt system meaning you will get about 25 more run time when running on the lower settings where both motors would be. I am led to believe that a 24v trolling motor will actually use up less amp hrs. In low speed settings than a 12 v motorif you do lots of weekend trips a 24 is.
Downsides of 12V. 12V systems require massive wires when pulling large loads because the current amps are higher. As we have already learned 24V systems reduce the current or amps two times then a downside of a 12V system is the amperage.

You can still charge it with your 12 volt charger just disconnect the batteries first and charge them one at the time. As mentioned 24v will pull less amps than 12v. So if the wiring was sufficient for 12v it will be enough for the 24v.
