Coleman 5hp outboard motor reviews. 10 out of 5 stars coleman 5 hp outboard motor Reviewed in the United States on July 25 2011 I looked at this motor at a retail store and after talking to a salesman who was an ex Cat engineer I thought it would be a reliable and reasonably priced alternative to higher priced outboards. This is a review of a 2013 5 hp Coleman four Stroke Outboard. Overall after 6 years Id say they made a quality product.

For those unfamiliar with this motor. It is a rebadged Parsun or Sail outboard. It is made in china by Parsun power comp.

Ive always wondered where you get stuff like this fixed. These outboards those Coleman and other chinese-made ATVs that Cabelas etc sells. There are no dealers for these I dont think.

Id say just spend a few hundred more and get a TohatsuNissan used. I did the opposite and got a great running 1975 Johnson 99. Practically stole it lol.

Granted its a 2-stroke engine so it can offer you less performance compared to the first model that we have showcased in our selection. After about 100 pulls it finally started drove the motor for 1 hr at half throttle like it said to do turned it off tried to restart it to continue the break in time and would not restart. If you buy one of those Coleman outboards even at a cheap price you need to keep in mind where you are going to get service who is going to service it and where are you going to get parts and at what price. Do yourself a favor and support your local dealer and or buy a used outboard built by a manufacturer that has local dealer service.
