Went out on the water today replaced the fuelwater separator and fuel filter. If I ease up to 12 or 34 its fine and I can punch it the rest of the way.
My outboard starts fine and when i take off runs good for 15 sec then starts to bog down.
Boat motor bogs down at full throttle. Why does my boat bogs down at full throttle. Usually that is the symptom of clogged emulsion tubes aka main nozzle the small holes on the side of tube get clogged by tacky dried two stroke when the carbs stood empty for awhile. When servicing engines we found this is the most common cause for a motor to bog down when hitting the loud lever.
Motor bogs down at full throttle Howdy gone_fishin. Sounds like fuel starvation to me. Check that the air vent on your fuel tank is open and not blocked that there are no air leaks in your tank-to-motor hose and that your fuel pump is in good shape.
Another possibility is overheat Check out your cooling. Bogs down at full throttle. If your ball is going flat sounds like your fuel tank aint venting.
Or the pickup screen is plugged oil bottle foil seal or the fuel line from the tank to the ball is shedding its inner tube. Or the ball itself is. Go through the easy checks Gas gas and gas ethanol is a killer try to only buy non-ethanol and always use something like starbright fuel conditioner even with good fuel.
If you have bad gas in the bowl of your carb just changing your filter will not do it. You have to KNOW from the carb back you have good fuel. My boat is bogging down in full throttle.
It wont get up and just go like its supposed to. Never really reaching is 5500 rpms. Sounds great isnt missing or anything.
My full speed is 40-45mph. Went out on the water today replaced the fuelwater separator and fuel filter. I went to full throttle and trimmed the motor to plane the boat.
As the engine started to bog down I noticed the motor went down by itself and I could not tilt the motor up. I pulled back on the throttle and the engine started to run smoothly no bogging down. I tried to trim the motor and it worked I throttle again and the motor went down and so on.
Allowing the engine to cool may help but the problem can surface again after several minutes of mowing. While it seems that the mower is unreliable the cause of the problem may require minor repairs. What kind of motor bogs down at full throttle.
I have a 1984 Yamaha 50hp 3 cyl oil injected outboard motor low hours and is in fairly new condition. One possible reason why boats no longer achieve appropriate speeds at full throttle is a spun prop. This occurs when the bond between the propshaft and blades are broken which subsequently causes the rubber insert to spin independently.
In a vast majority of cases the problem is an obstruction in the raw water intake - like weeds mud or a plastic bag. Locate the intake and clean it out. A loose hose clamp or a split or burst hose can also slow water flow and it can spray damaging moisture around the engine.
Restricting RPM by restricting fuel would mean weak mixtures this would be bad for the motor and cause damage. The only overheats I have heard of is alarms that give you the warning and lts up to you to decide what to do. To have an automatic shut down might be dangerous in some situations.
When I punch the throttle from idle to full the motor hesitates before it aprings to life. Occassionally it will bog down and I have to back off. If I dont back off it will choke out and die.
If I ease up to 12 or 34 its fine and I can punch it the rest of the way. Need some help- Motor bogging at full throttle. Im putting together a deep-V aluminum boat a 1957 Crestliner Viking 710.
This is a nice heavy well-designed hull factory equipped with either a 40 HP or a 60 HP Evinrude. Owner gutted the boat and used it as a jon with a 99 tiller. My name is test the fuel veny loosen the fill cap and run boat.
If boat runs better then you have a kinked or clogged vent hose. If no change run the engine on a different fuel source. Get a 5 gallon gas can and some fuel line.
Disconnect the fuel supply line to the engine plug it. Now connect the fuel line from the gas can and run the boat. I recommend not driving continuously at 85 throttle I feel the 951 isnt robust enough for that.
Short blasts even full throttle for a minute or two are fine but prolonged 85 throttle this is pushing it IMO. I cruise my boat around 5200RPM about 12 throttle to 5800RPM or so mostly around 5200 just above where the RAVES are open constantly. Last time I had my boat out it was very reluctant to start usually starts on 1-2 pulls.
When I did get it started it too would bog down when I gave it gas. If I let off the throttle it would come back to life and then run fine if I accelerated gradually. After reading this thread I pulled the plugs last night and both were oily and wet.
I have a stock 2006 raptor 350 and the engine is refusing to rev when i hit the throttle even just slightly it tries to accelerate but bogs down and if i dont let go of the throttle the engine dies. However when the engine is warm and i block most of the carbs air intake with my hand i am able to throttle the engine without a problem. Occasionally when I put the throttle down to take off it bogs down and wont go over 1000s - Answered by a verified Marine Mechanic.
Even after it has been warmed up. I have a 1996 Marlin 19 foot boat with a 305 engine and mercruiser Alpha 1 outdrive. I took it out today and it ran fine for many runs wakeboarding and skiing.
Last year at the end of the season the boat started running bad after running it for about 30 min. I could shut the boat off and let it sit for 5 min and it would run again fine for about 5 min. Then it would lose power again and would backfire when I tried opening the throttle.
Well I put a new fuel filter on it and that didnt fix the problem. I purchased a 2006 Seville with a Mercruiser 140hp 30L engine. It runs good at idle and half throttle but at full throttle it does a mix of running good and bogging down mostly bad then good.
My outboard starts fine and when i take off runs good for 15 sec then starts to bog down. If i leave the throttle where it was full power will come and go every few sec. If i let up on throttle and idle in gear it runs fine.
I take off again and same thing runs under throttle for 10 to 15 sec then starts cutting in and out. Even when it bogs down it runs smooth it just doesnt have the power to push it any further. I dont have a tach on board to say the absolute RPM drop but suffice to say its running at 50 power.
I can throttle it down to an idle without issue it doesnt stall or run rough. Once it starts bogging down it doesnt seem to recover unless its. Black smoke is sign of the engine being over-fueled by the injection system governor - the injection system and governor is responding to an extra or artificial load on the engine.
Causes in order of common occurrence 1. Blocked injection elbow – high exhaust system back pressure causing engine to lug.
